    Āpiti’s hidden cave

    Āpiti Limestone Reserve is a hidden corner of the Manawatū. Even in peak holiday season, we were the only ones at this place. The area is under the protection of the Queen Elizabeth II National Trust. The walk is very short – just 1 kilometre – and easy. From the carpark, descend steeply to Limestone Creek. Cross over and head upstream. You will find yourself in a lush, bushy area. A waterfall appears on your left and the limestone cave is straight ahead of you.
